Our Registered Manager, Ross Isbell

He genuinely cares about the people he supports and takes the time to get to know everyone, helping them to live the lives they choose. With a thoughtful eye for detail, Ross strives to create a positive and nurturing environment for his residents and colleagues alike, always aiming to achieve the best for those involved.

Ross would be delighted to show you around Glencairn House and help you explore how he and his team can support you in making Glencairn your new home away from home.

Activities

Our home is as busy as each resident wants it to be. We are lucky to have two activities co-ordinators who organise a wide and diverse range of individual and group activities including flower arranging, bingo, quizzes, pet visits, knitting and singers.

When the weather’s good we get out and about as much as we can into our garden, across the road into Borough Gardens and further afield.

Food and nutrition

We believe that high quality, healthy food is essential for supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents and that mealtimes should be an enjoyable part of each day.

Our chefs cater to all tastes, preparing a variety of nutritious options from our diverse menu. We work closely with residents to understand their preferences, dietary requirements, and any medical, cultural or religious needs, so that every meal is both suitable and satisfying.

Residents can choose to dine in the communal dining room or in the comfort of their own rooms.

Tea, coffee, biscuits, and fresh fruit are always available, day or night.

All standard meals, snacks, and drinks are included in the service fees. Special dietary items may incur an additional charge, and limited quantities of alcohol are offered on special occasions.

Feeling right at home

We’ve designed Glencairn House so that residents feel at home as soon as they move in.

Bedrooms

Each of our residents has their own private bedroom, which we respect as their own space. Residents can add their own touches to their bedroom, such as family photos and pictures.

What our residents and families say about us

CQC inspection

The safety and wellbeing of our residents is paramount and we take the CQC’s findings extremely seriously.

In January 2025 Dorset Council confirmed that it is satisfied with our progress, and the CQC itself has improved our ‘Safe’ rating to ‘Good’, both of which demonstrate that we are moving in the right direction. We are now rated ‘Good’ in the ‘Safe’, ‘Caring’ and ‘Responsive’ categories.

We continue to implement our service improvement plan, tightening up our policies and procedures.

While we are confident that the inspectors will find further improvements when they next come to Glencairn House, we are by no means complacent, and I am extremely grateful for the dedication and hard work of our team and the support of residents and families as we strive for an improved overall CQC rating.

We’d love you to come in and see Glencairn House for yourself, meet our team and get a real feel for the place.
